To commemorate the country’s World Cup victory in Qatar, Argentina’s Central Bank intends to print a banknote featuring Lionel Messi.

The Central Bank of Argentina is reportedly considering creating a Lionel Messi currency after the superstar guided Argentina to their first World Cup triumph since 1986 in Mexico.

Since the exhilarating 4-2 shootout triumph against France in the championship game, according to the newspaper El Financiero, the Central Bank of the Republic of Argentina has apparently been thinking of ways to commemorate the historic success of the national team in Qatar.

Fans are excited to see the 1,000 peso note go into circulation, and mock-ups of the note have now gone viral.

It is explained in EF that the fact that the $1,000 bill starts with a “10”—Messi’s Argentina jersey number—is a significant factor in its design.

Messi’s beaming visage can be seen on one side of the note, and the phrase “La Scaloneta” is suggested for the reverse.

Officials produced commemorative coins in 1978 to mark Argentina’s first World Cup victory.

On the occasion of Eva Perón’s passing, the former First Lady of Argentina, commemorative coins were also created.

Argentina won the 2021 Copa America, the inaugural Finalissima at Wembley Stadium, and the 2022 FIFA World Cup under the leadership of national coach Lionel Scaloni.
