Pep Guardiola Did This Strange Thing During Man City’s Victory Over Newcastle

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has admitted that during their 1-0 Premier League victory over Newcastle United on Saturday, he requested a fan to take his position on the sidelines.

Guardiola was criticized by the spectator sitting next to the dugout for not making any replacements.

After a heated altercation, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager motioned for the supporter to come in and take his position.

Guardiola explained why he didn’t make a single replacement in a league game for the first time since May 2022 in remarks made following the encounter at the Etihad.

“He asked me to make the substitutions, one player out and one in, and I asked him which one, I didn’t know it.

“I said ‘come here and do it.’ I saw that the team at that moment was still alive and sometimes to come in, the rhythm is difficult.

“I saw the team were still there and fighting for every ball. The managers, we have that option to make the substitutions but the managers decide or not,” Guardiola said.
