Pray for Davido, who is going through some difficult circumstances (See What Happened)
Afrobeats superstar Davido has abruptly removed almost all of his prior Instagram postings in addition to his profile photo.
The singer’s profile currently only has 3 postings, down from almost 4000 when he first started. The posts that are still up are largely images of his late son Ifeanyi, clips from his World Cup performance in Qatar, and shots of him and his wife Chioma.
Davido has been on a social media hiatus since the heartbreaking death of his three-year-old son on October 30, 2022. He made his first public appearance after Ifeanyi’s death at the swearing-in ceremony of his uncle Ademola Adeleke as Osun governor on November 27.
Since then, he has returned to social media a few times, including for his performance at the closing ceremony of the 2022 FIFA World Cup on December 18.
He teased his return to music, which he said would be in March, and his aide Israel DMW hinted that he would be releasing an album in March.
Davido is also scheduled to perform with Tems at this year’s Governors Ball Festival in the United States from June 9 to 11. With over 26 million followers on Instagram and 13 million on Twitter, Davido has become a force to be reckoned with in the entertainment industry in the 10 years since he started his music career.
Although Davido hasn’t made an official announcement about the removal of his posts, it’s possible that he is getting ready for a new beginning on social media as he resumes his musical career. It’s also likely that he is still in mourning over the death of his kid and prefers to maintain a low profile on social media.
