Tinubu Leading Atiku and Obi in the Rivers
The All Progressives Congress’s presidential candidate Bola Tinubu is now in the lead in Rivers State.
In the Rivers State local government elections last Saturday, he has so far been declared the winner in 10 of the 13 local government areas that have been counted by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Ikwerre, the LGA of the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, is one of the 13 won by the APC.
In the INEC headquarters in Port Harcourt on Monday, Prof. James Kpolovie, the Ikwerre LGA’s collation officer, revealed this while delivering the results to Prof. Charles Adias, the state collation officer.
During the APC’s presidential rally in Port Harcourt before the elections, Amaechi was noticeably absent.
According to the results, the APC received 9,609 votes overall, defeating the Labour Party and the People’s Democratic Party, who received 8,752 and 4,869 votes, respectively, to finish second and third.
Opobo/Nkoro, Asari-Toru, Abua-Odual, Bonny, Omuma, Gokana, Emuoha, Eleme, Tai, and Akuku-Toru are the other LGAs that the APC has so far won.
Meanwhile, Ahoada West, Bonny, and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni are the three LGAs that the Labour Party has so far won.
As for the PDP, it has won three LGAs so far: Andoni, Okrika, and Ogu/Bolo.
The remaining LGAs, including Governor Nyesom Wike’s Obio/Akpor LGA, have been asked to take a break, according to the state’s INEC collation officer, Prof. Dias.
