Jorginho, a midfielder for Arsenal, has revealed how he persuaded Kai Havertz to leave Chelsea this summer and go with the Gunners.
Havertz left the Blues after three years and relocated to north London this summer, finalizing a shock £65 million transfer to Arsenal last month.
Before Mikel Arteta’s team expressed interest in signing the 24-year-old, the Germany international was said to be returning to the Bundesliga.
When he learned of the rumors, according to Jorginho, he immediately got in touch with his old comrade.
Jorginho was a Chelsea player for five years before moving on to Arsenal in January.
The Arsenal Tour Diary quoted Jorginho as saying,
“It’s very nice. When I heard there was a possibility, I called him straight away. I said, ‘Is this true?’ He said, ‘Yeah, it’s possible’. I was like, ‘You need to come!’
“I just wanted the best for everyone. Everyone wins. He wins because it’s a good project for him, and it’s going to be amazing for the club and the team as well. So it was a win-win.”
