Why I Pulled Jorginho Against Everton at Halftime, according to Arsenal Manager Arteta

Mikel Arteta, manager of Arsenal, has provided an explanation for why Jorginho was substituted during the first half of Wednesday night’s 4-0 victory over Everton.

Jorginho was substituted by Thomas Partey for the final 45 minutes of the encounter at the Emirates.

Arsenal moved five points clear of the pack at the top of the standings thanks to goals from Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, and a brace from Gabriel Martinelli.

Yet Arsenal didn’t truly seize control of the situation until Partey entered the game.

In the opening 45 minutes of the match against Everton, Jorginho appeared off his game, which Arteta attributed to illness.

“I think the team grew, especially with Thomas, because Jorginho wasn’t feeling good today.

“When he came on he really gave us some presence and stability to the team and I think the second half was superb,” Arteta said.
