Trouble In Borno As Tinubu Retains Lead In Nine LGAs #NigeriaElections2023
The Peoples Democratic Party’s Atiku Abubakar, who has received 30,948 votes so far, is narrowly ahead of the former governor of Lagos State.
Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress’ front-runner for president, is in the lead there.
In Borno State, he has maintained his lead with 70,892 votes, winning in the nine local government areas that have been declared thus far by the returning authorities.
These include the local government areas of Gubio, Kaga, Magumeri, Mafa, Kwaya Kusar, Konduga, Nganzai, Dikwa, and Bayo.
The Peoples Democratic Party’s Atiku Abubakar, who has received 30,948 votes so far, is narrowly ahead of the former governor of Lagos State.
Notwithstanding the ongoing local government vote tally, confusion followed the declaration of the presidential results for Borno State’s Konduga Local Government Area.
The PDP representative alleged that votes were still being counted in Konduga as the results were being read at the state capital on Monday, the second day of the presidential collation process at Multipurpose Hall 5 of the Kashim Ibrahim Faculty of Education, Maiduguri.
The PUNCH claims that observers disapproved the Gubio Local Government Area election results on Sunday because more ballots were cast than there were registered voters.
This came after the Presidential Collation Officer, Prof. Jude Rabo, offered the Assistant Electoral Officer (Operations) of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Borno State, Zahra Musa, two chances to reconcile the numbers.
The following results were released at the collation center:
