Ancelotti, the manager of Real Madrid, discusses the LA Liga championship
Despite Barcelona leading the standings with five points, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti insists that there is still a long way to go in their defense of the La Liga championship.
Ancelotti acknowledged that Barcelona is performing exceptionally well this year and said that Real Madrid would contend for the La Liga championship.
This season, Real Madrid has had trouble remaining consistent in the league.
Sunday’s match between Los Blancos and Real Sociedad ended in a scoreless tie, which cost them two points.
“We are five points behind, we have to work hard. Barcelona are doing very well, but there’s a long way to go,” Ancelotti told a post-match press conference after Real Madrid’s 0-0 draw with Real Sociedad.
“January has been difficult, but the team is growing back into form and improving. We will fight,” he added.
To defend their La Liga and Champions League championships in addition to reaching the Copa del Rey semifinal, Ancelotti's team is still on track for a potential treble this season.
