Senate Gives Reason for Refusal to Confirm El-Rufai, 2 Others as Ministers
Malam Nasir EL-Rufai, the recently-resigned governor of Kaduna State, was denied confirmation by the Nigerian Senate on Monday.
Out of the 48 nominations for ministerial positions that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu sent to the Senate, 45 have been confirmed.
Nasir El-Rufai and two other candidates have not passed security checks, according to Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio, who spoke after the 45 nominations were confirmed.
Akpabio declared:
“El-Rufai and two others have not been cleared by security checks.”
Those not confirmed are Malam Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Stella Okotete (Delta) and Danladi Umar (Taraba).
