Burna Boy becomes the first African artist to earn two solo platinum singles in the US, surpassing Wizkid and Davido

By being the first African artist to earn two solo platinum singles in the US, Burna Boy, a Nigerian Afro-fusion musician, has created music history.

Burna Boy won his second solo platinum single in the US with his record-breaking song “Last Last,” which sold the necessary one million units, according to an official report by Chart Data via Twitter.

The RIAA awarded him a platinum certification for his debut solo single, “Ye,” on January 26, 2023.

Burna Boy has now achieved the distinction of being the first and, as of this writing, the only African musician to have two solo singles certified platinum in the US.

This accomplishment demonstrates the expanding impact of African music on the international music landscape.

Burna Boy has followers all around the world thanks to his distinctive sound, which fuses contemporary music styles with traditional African rhythms.

Where are Davido and Wizkid?

International audiences have started to pay more attention to and recognize African music in recent years.
African music has become more well-known thanks to performers like Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido, whose popularity has also given other African musicians more opportunities.

But, while Wizkid and Davido, among others, are no longer highly active, only Burna Boy is currently balancing the industry on his shoulders, in my opinion.
