Mother of ABSU Student: “My Daughter Became Mentally Unstable After Attending Abuja Wedding”

Comfort Ifunanya Chukwugbo, a 23-year-old student who was reported missing and found, has been reunited with her mother.

On Friday, January 20, 2023, a Good Samaritan located the wandering student from the Abia State University Uturu (ABSU) and brought her to the Ozalla Police Division.

On Tuesday, February 24, only a few hours after authorities requested assistance from the public in finding her family members, she was reunited with her mother.

The mother, Mrs. Benedicta Chukwugbo, disclosed that Comfort left a prayer home in the Inyi community in the Oji River Local Government Area of the state, where she had resided since December 31, 2022, as a result of her mental instability, according to the command’s spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe.

Mrs. Chukwugbo claims that her daughter began experiencing mental instability in 2020 after attending and returning from a wedding ceremony in Abuja.

The PPRO stated, “The Enugu State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the young girl previously announced as found on Monday, January 23, 2024, has today, Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at about 4pm, been reunited with her mother, one Mrs. Benedicta Chukwugbo, in an emotionally charged atmosphere, barely twenty-four hours of the announcement.

The discovered girl was identified as Comfort Ifunanya Chukwugbo, age 23, a resident of Inyi in the Oji-River Local Government Area, by her extremely happy and grateful widowed mother.

She claimed that on December 31, 2022, Comfort departed the same Inyi community prayer house from which she had been brought because of her unstable mental state.

that all searches for her proved fruitless until she learned about the Found Girl press release and saw images of her daughter being shared on various social media platforms.

“Mrs. Chukwugbo went on to say that Comfort, an Abia State University (ABSU) student, began to experience mental imbalance in 2020 after attending and returning from a wedding ceremony in Abuja.

The Command is grateful to everyone who helped in finding Comfort and bringing her back together with her mother and other family members.
She expresses her gratitude in especially to the Good Samaritan who located her and took her to the police station.

Pressmen and civic-minded people who used their various media platforms to extensively disseminate the Found Girl press release as well as those who located and informed her mother of the situation.

The Command further exhorts everyone to continue acting with compassion, caring, and unadulterated love in this way, as doing so allowed for Comfort’s quick recovery and reunion with her mother and other family members.
