Cristiano Ronaldo Discusses His Decision To Leave Portugal’s World Cup Squad In Qatar

Cristiano Ronaldo, the captain of Portugal, has denied threatening to leave the squad for the 2022 World Cup.

In a social media post, the 37-year-old claimed that “external forces” are attempting to break up the group.

“This group is too strong to be broken by outside forces.”
A nation too valiant to be intimidated by any foe.
“This is a true team that will fight until the end for the dream,” Ronaldo wrote.

According to Record, Ronaldo informed head coach Fernando Santos that he might leave Qatar after learning that he had been dropped for the last-16 match against Switzerland.

The former Manchester United forward is said to have eventually calmed down after realizing his departure would have a negative impact on the team.

These claims have also been refuted by the Portuguese Football Federation.
