Peter Obi, a candidate for the Labour Party, LP, has been declared the winner of the Plateau State presidential election.
Obi won in 11 of the State’s 17 local governments, while Tinubu and Atiku each took home three.
While the candidate of the ruling APC, Bola Tinubu, won in Wase, Kanam, and Kanke LGAs and the PDP’s Atiku Abubakar won in Quaan Pan, Langtang South, and Mikang LGAs, the Labour Party candidate won in Barkin Ladi, Riyom, Jos East, Langtang North, Bokkos, Mangu, Bassa, Jos South, Shendam, Pankshin, and Jos North LGA
The Labour Party candidate received 466,272 votes, according to the results announced by the State Returning Officer for the presidential election, Prof. Shehu Abdulrahman.
Atiku of the PDP received 243,808 votes, while Tinubu of the ruling APC received 307,195.
He praised the agents and other significant participants for acting in an orderly manner throughout the process and urged them to follow suit in future elections.
Oliver Agundu, the resident electoral commissioner, thanked the security agencies in his remarks for their efforts to ensure a smooth process and urged them to continue supporting the commission in the commission’s next elections.
He also gave the media praise for their impartial coverage of the event.
