Why Barcelona Beat Real Madrid In The El Clasico – Xavi
Xavi Hernandez, the manager of Barcelona, responded to his team’s 1-0 victory over Real Madrid in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semifinal on Thursday.
The Catalans recovered after losing their previous two games to gain a crucial advantage in the match.
At the Bernabeu, Eder Militao’s own goal in the first half made all the difference.
Barça’s 35% possession rate was the lowest in the previous eight seasons.
44% was their previous low.
“The plan was to have long spells of possession and defend with the ball, but we couldn’t.
“Normally, we are better in possession, more precise. We didn’t make good choices today, we didn’t have patience with the ball, we didn’t win the physical battles in their half, but there are other aspects of the game I liked,” Xavi said.
