Yet, a fascinating fact has surfaced.
Oyo State’s current governor, Seyi Makinde, has tied the record of the state’s previous governor, Abiola Ajimobi, by becoming the second person to hold the office of governor twice.
He overwhelmingly defeated two other contenders to clinch victory in a keenly-contested election.
Makinde, who had won 31 out of the 33 local governments, has a total vote of 563,756 to defeat his closest rival, Folarin, who has 256,685 and Adelabu who scored 38,357.
Makinde won most of the local government areas, according to the election results announced by INEC’s Returning Officer, Prof. Adebayo Bamire, solidifying his lead in the race.
