Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known by her stage name Hilda Baci, is a celebrated Nigerian chef who just broke the Guinness World Record for the “longest cooking marathon by an individual.”

On a Thursday at four o’clock, Hilda Baci turned on her cooker and began her bold venture. As Hilda prepared for a difficult assignment that would test her abilities, stamina, and resolve, the atmosphere at Amore Gardens in Lekki, Lagos State, was one of expectancy.

Hilda’s objective was crystal clear: to beat Indian chef Lata Tondon’s current Guinness World Record of 87 hours and 45 minutes. With each hour that went by, Hilda persisted, demonstrating her cooking skill and winning the admiration of passersby who gladly encouraged her despite the rain.

Hilda got an outpouring of support from Nigerians across the country throughout her cooking marathon. Numerous others braved the rain to offer their support and encouragement despite the bad weather, including well-known celebrities.

As Hilda passed the four-day milestone on Monday morning, moving closer to her challenging goal of 96 hours, the mood was electric with anticipation.
