SHOCKING!!! Due to This Abhorrent Thing, Peter Obi May Be Disqualified – Read More
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate for the general election of 2023, is currently the target of a new lawsuit seeking to have him disqualified for holding dual citizenship with another person.
A different political group, the National Rescue Movement (NRM), brought Obi before the court, alleging, among other things, that the presidential candidate is no longer qualified for the most prestigious post in Nigeria due to his dual citizenship.
In a new lawsuit filed against Obi, the plaintiff is asking the court to rule that he should be disqualified from running for president due to a violation of the 1999 Constitution.
The Labour Party candidate was charged with violating sections 1 and 137 of the Nigerian Constitution by obtaining citizenship of Dallas, Texas, the United States of America, according to the lawsuit with the file number FHC/ABJ/CS/1842/2022.
Through its attorney, Mohammed Danjuma, the party requested a permanent injunction preventing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from granting Peter Obi any right or privilege to run for president.
In a 14-paragraph affidavit filed in support of the lawsuit, Peter Obi claimed to have freely obtained Dallas citizenship and was given a certificate of citizenship by Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson.
In order to support its case against the defendant, the party provided a photograph and a video of the presentation of the citizenship certificate.
When the case was discussed on Monday, Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo berated the plaintiff for failing to serve the defendants with the original summons.
After that, Justice Ekwo set February 10 for the lawsuit to be mentioned and warned to dismiss it if the plaintiff failed to serve Peter Obi with court papers before to the postponed date.
God will not allow him to be disqualified
