Kepa departed Chelsea to join Real Madrid
Spain’s Kepa Arrizabalaga, a goalkeeper for Chelsea, has been acquired by Real Madrid on a season-long loan.
Thibaut Courtois, Madrid’s usual number one goalkeeper, will be replaced by the 28-year-old before the end of the current campaign due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Since joining Chelsea from Athletic Bilbao for £71m in August 2018, Kepa has made 163 appearances, the most ever spent for a goalkeeper.
Robert Sanchez, a summer addition for the Blues, presented competition for him.
Sanchez, a fellow Spaniard who cost £25 million and moved from Brighton, started the Premier League opener against Liverpool on Sunday.
