Who Is the Soldier Behind the Most Recent Coup in Burkina Faso, Ibrahim Traore?
For a number of days now, Ibrahim Traore has been in the news. Many people may be curious about who this young man is.
Here is some information on Ibrahim Traore.
The president of Burkina Faso at the moment is Ibrahim Traore. He was the youngest head of state in the world when he was born in January 1988.
He attended the Ougadougou University, where he earned an honors degree.
In 2009, he enlisted in the Burkinabe army, where he quickly advanced through the ranks. For anti-aircraft training, he was deployed to Morocco. He later returned and was given command of an infantry in Kaya.
He took part in the conflict in Mali and contributed to the success in quelling the jihadist insurrection in Burkina Faso.
In order to install the Patriotic Movement for Safeguard and Restoration military junta in Burkina Faso in January 2022, Traoré was a member of the group of army commanders that supported the coup. This happened after a sizable portion of young Army soldiers lost faith in the leadership of Paul-henri Sandaogo Damiba and the administration.
Ibrahim Traore was appointed supreme head of state and supreme commander of the armed forces after the coup.
The French military that were aiding the Traore administration in the fight against the Jihadist insurgency were expelled in 2023.
If Traore, Mali, and Guinea come to an agreement, it will become the largest region under the control of a military junta.
Traore highlighted his displeasure with the way the African continent is still impoverished despite having all the resources necessary to make us a super power continent during the recent trip to Russia where they visited Putin.
