It’s official!! Chelsea’s new manager will be Mauricio Pochettino
According to reports, Mauricio Pochettino and Chelsea have reached an agreement for him to lead them as their next manager.
Following Graham Potter’s resignation last month, Blues management decided to speak with the former Tottenham manager again. They had already spoken to him earlier in the season. And according to Sky Sports, a deal has been reached for him to assume leadership as of the upcoming season.
Since leaving PSG in July of last year, Pochettino has been unemployed. He has been mentioned in connection with the open position at Manchester United that Erik ten Hag subsequently filled.
Also reported was a possible return to his previous team, Spurs, who are also looking for a new manager. However, it appears that their opponents at Stamford Bridge have hired him.
Given Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly has sacked both Thomas Tuchel and Potter in his first season at the helm, rival fans teased
“Pochettino to be sacked by Christmas”, “sacked within six months” and “odds on him to be sacked by Xmas?”.
Having started his managerial career with La Liga side Espanyol, the former Argentina defender enjoyed a successful 18-month spell with Southampton in his first role in England.
