Adesanya defeats Pereira in the second round to reclaim the championship (Watch)
In their much awaited rematch, Israel Adesanya defeated Alex Pereira via second-round knockout to reclaim the middleweight UFC championship.
With his surprising victory, Adesanya cemented his status as one of the UFC’s most dominant fighters and put an end to Pereira’s tenure as the middleweight champion.
Both competitors traded blows and displayed their in-ring prowess early on in the fight, which was a fierce struggle. Adesanya, though, proved to be the more powerful fighter that evening, unleashing a shot that knocked Pereira to the ground.
After losing to Pereira in their initial meeting, Adesanya has now exacted revenge and reclaimed the middleweight championship he gave up to the Brazilian in November 2022.
