When the opening legs of the Champions League Round of 16 were finished on Wednesday night, the list was made public.
Mario played in the Portuguese midfield as Benfica overcame Club Brugge 7-1 overall following two-legged matches in the round of 16.
The Portuguese champions eliminated Scot Parker’s team 5-1 in Portugal then defeated the Belgian team 2-0 at home in Belgium to advance to the quarterfinals.
Joshua Kimmich of Bayern Munich, who finished second on the list, was Mario’s closest competitor, but Mario outscored him with 273 points.
Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham finished third with 194 points, followed by Benfica’s Florentino in fourth place with 175 points, and Federico Valverde of Real Madrid in fifth place with 172 points.
