Lagos’s government closes Quilox Nightclub.

Due to non-compliance with agency directions and arranging events without a sound control permit, the well-known Quilox nightclub in Victoria Island has been shut down by the Lagos State Government through the state Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA).

Dr. Dolapo Fasawe, the general manager of LASEPA, confirmed the seal-off operation and explained that the measure was necessary as a result of numerous distress calls and video evidence that worried neighbors had made regarding alleged environmental nuisances the club had created without regard for the host community’s right to a peaceful environment.

“To avoid a situation like this, we recently had a stakeholder’s parley with the Owners/Chief Executive Officers of nightclubs in the state to address the issue of noise pollution during the festive time,” claims Fasawe.

The states, in their vastness, kindly raised the decibel level to satisfy the interests of the tourism and hotel industries.

“We asked them to register for sound control permits so that we could reach out to the host community and inform them of the scheduled program and then dispatch our officers to the site for adequate monitoring and the prevention of excessive noise pollution,” the statement read.
