Erling Haaland, a star for Manchester City, gave his honest opinion on the competition between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

He also denied the claim that he and Kylian Mbappe, the standout forward for Paris Saint-Germain, will succeed Messi and Ronaldo.

The question of whether Ronaldo and Messi, two of the greatest footballers of all time, will be followed by Haaland and Mbappe has generated discussion.

Although their rivalry dates back more than ten years, Ronaldo and Messi are now nearing the end of their illustrious careers.

“I think the media has been doing that with Ronaldo and Messi for the last 10 years and I think they’ve been pushing each other as well,” Haaland told Viaplay.

“I think it’s been a positive thing. Barcelona and Madrid against each other.

“It’s been the perfect rivalry. But I don’t think about this [rivalry between him and Mbappe], honestly.”
