The Upcoming 2025 Club World Cup: Everything You Need To Know
Chelsea and Manchester City will play in the new 32-team FIFA Club World Cup in 2025, FIFA has announced.
The United States of America will host the first edition of the 32-team FIFA Club World Cup – featuring the likes of Chelsea and Man City.
Plans to expand the competition have been in the pipeline for years and on Friday, FIFA confirmed where the new look tournament will take place.
Recall that the switch from the current 7-club format was announced in December 2022, with FIFA President Gianni Infantino declaring it would be ‘like a World Cup’.
In its current guise, the FIFA Club World Cup sees the winner of each continent’s competition.
UEFA have 12 slots for the upcoming competition, four of which will be given to the most recent winners of the Champions League, namely Chelsea, Real Madrid, Man City and the 2024 winner.
The other eight will be decided by the European coefficient rankings, but there is a limit of two clubs per country.
