THE REALITY! Graham Potter, the manager of Chelsea, explains why his team fell to Fulham 2–1.
Graham Potter, the manager of Chelsea, has vowed to “keep working” despite their 2-1 loss to Fulham on Thursday night.
It was the most recent in a string of unsuccessful outcomes for Potter.
The Blues have lost all four of their games to start 2023.
Potter, who was in severe need of motivation against Fulham, started the game with Joao Felix, a loan addition.
However, Kalidou Koulibaly quickly equalized after Willian, a former Blues midfielder, had scored the opening goal.
Following Felix’s dismissal for a late challenge on Kenny Tete, Carlos Vinicius defeated the other 10 men to claim the victory.
The outcome places Potter’s team 10th, 10 points outside of the Champions League berths.
BT Sport was told by Potter:
“I think we controlled the game early, won the ball back high, created some opportunities – maybe missed the last pass. We made a couple of mistakes for their goal.
“Second half, I think we responded well and then the red card changed the game. Makes it a little more difficult for us. I thought the application when we went down to 10 was really good.”
